travel log : kentucky

after releasing josh's new album at midnight on the 15th, we slept for three whole hours at josh's parents house, then boarded a plane to begin our midwest tour! we flew to indianapolis, spent the night at jay's, then caravanned with him to ichthus festival in kentucky.

: sheppy's first josh garrels show :

usually the kids are in bed for his concerts, so it was really special for them to be able to attend an afternoon show!  heron was a natural as junior merch girl.  (she's a pretty believable saleslady)

my "aunt" aureol moore, our neighbor from peru, lived just off of the festival grounds, so she contacted us the day before the show to see if we'd like to stay with her.  of course we said we'd love to, & it was awesome to connect with her again after 27 years or so.  she was just as i remembered her--jesus-loving, vibrant & quirky.  she has remained so joyful despite difficult circumstances, & thus it was an inspirational time with her.  heron, shepherd, & i were up early with aunt aureol, playing in her garden, catching up, and zumba-ing with her in her studio (she's a zumba + fitness instructor)!
