heronovich: the album

with josh, habitual nicknamer, as their father, our kids have hundreds of names.  these are the current favorites:  heronovich and shepski.  we pretty much add "ski" to the end of every word in our house right now in honor of sweet shepski.

yeah, so i'm totally designing fake album covers of my kids to teach myself photoshop.  it's fun!  this one would be called sonrise, a collection of folk-hymns sung by heron selah garrels, aka "heronovich".  songs to welcome you into the day.

speaking of mornings, thanks to julia rosen for introducing me to maximize your mornings!  this new routine has done wonders for my relationship with mornings.  though part of the goal of MYM is to actually get up early before the family, i've found that right now, with shepherd's unpredictable schedule + co-sleeping (for the second half of the night) i don't always have the option of having alone time early in the morning, even though i love early rising.  shepherd & i are both usually up at 5:45 or 6, but it's hard to get true mitchy time in with shepherd; we usually just play/cuddle/giggle for an hour before the rest of the house wakes up!  sometimes we listen to music or i'll listen to a sermon while i nurse him, or we'll start making breakfast for the family.  then josh watches the kids from 7 to 8 to give me time (josh works from home, so we have a flexible family schedule.  it's great!).  the important part is being disciplined in prayer, planning (daily errands, menu), & exercise before starting my day.  already for this month that i've been "maximizing my mornings" those practices have become so habit, so welcomed, that i now feel starved without them.  if you follow the link, you'll be led to a site where you can download an e-book to get you started.  not all of it is totally my style, and it may or may not be yours, but it's still been a huge help in getting me motivated & disciplined in areas where i want to grow as a mother & believer.
