today the skies unexpectedly cleared, so we decided to finally venture out to sauvie island to the pumpkin patch. my friend maureen who i met years ago while living in seattle, just recently moved to portland with her husband jeremy (after several years out east post-seattle, like me!). she happened to call just when we were leaving for the island, saying she had the day off of work. we haden't seen each other for four years, & she just moved to town two weeks ago. the pumpkin patch was the perfect (though muddy) reunion!

after our excursion maureen joined us for dinner, then stayed and watched our home + sleeping babies so that josh & i could kick off my birthday weekend with a date night. our friend rachel had given us tickets just the day before for the sufjan stevens show, & we hadn't yet found a babysitter. so... to the concert we went! thank you so much, maureen, for an amazing day! welcome to portland!
