thirty four.

the day began in the great josh garrels family tradition--a breakfast feast!  (actually, it began with sleeping in, which josh & i agree is the greatest gift for any parent)

after breakfast josh had to finish up birthday shopping, so heron, shepherd, & i played with jocelyn & joaquin at their house, then robin, cypress, wren, & juniper came over bearing gifts.  then, lunch together & naptime for the kids.  josh & i shared cake & coffee, taking a moment while the kids were sleeping to open my gifts:  the latest innocence mission album (my absolute favorite band for over a decade now, un-waning), the new nikki mcclure calendar (another tradition; i had the pleasure of seeing the calendar art live at a local gallery a few weeks ago), and a gift card from my favorite store (hooray!), among other little goodies.

the kids woke up, & he took them on a walk while i finished sewing heron's costume.  then we were off to her preschool's halloween party.  we partied hard, then put the kids to bed & enjoyed another sweet moment together.  take-out pizza from lovely's fifty/fifty & beautiful conversation with my love.  it was another great birthday!
