heron's birthday party

what a perfect day for a party! just a small gathering of some of the people in our town who love heron, on a sunny breezy saturday on our porch & lawn. a couple of her two-year-old "boyfriends" & some adult friends of the family, too, joined us to celebrate. we wish you all could have joined us for this occasion, too, but we will share pictures so it will be like you were here...

(carrot cake + cream cheese frosting + toasted coconut "nest" + eggs dyed with turmeric then purple cabbage for that great-blue-heron's egg blue. the cake decoration idea was gleaned from alice's wedding cupcakes!)
