this week, since returning from colorado, has been one of the best i can remember with the kids. it could be their ages, or renewed perspective on the value of being a mama, but i've been having a blast with my kids. this week i've let go of a little more of my own agenda, fully entering into their needs, letting the house get messy, planning simpler meals (to leave more time for just being with them) & more intentional activities, going on more fun outings (fewer errands). interestingly, without my own to-do list heavily on my mind, i've been so much more patient, laughed more, & had no power-struggles with my 2-year-old ;) the trick is, of course, balancing this renewed mindset with the fact that i am the household manager, and have goals & desires outside of child-rearing to pursue, too. but for now, i'm enjoying a respite from all that, loving just being with my beautiful babies. i could stand to do this more often!
this week we discovered two new (to us) parks near downtown: wallace city park & washington park. worth the drive, as our own lovely neighborhood park, though functional & beautiful, is always quite shaded & cold. friday, the day of these photos, was a perfect sunny northwest day, & we cherished our time together outdoors (with no rain!).

I'm loving the cherry blossom photos. 'Course, I'm a sucker for the Hipstamatic.
I'm also trying to consciously take certain activities on "toddler time" and let her experience the world at her own pace and whim. It's good for me to let go of my own mental to-do list sometimes.
