yes, we have been to portland. three times. tomorrow will make four. we have not found a place to live yet after three tries.
it has been a bit baffling, at times discouraging, but we are trusting that it will all make sense soon. so we are going to keep trying! thankfully (in some ways, sad in others), all of my classes at OCAC were cancelled for the semester due to low enrollment, so we have been able to go back and forth between seattle & portland whenever it works + whenever we're able to set up appointments to see homes (to rent or buy), without the added monday & tuesday night (+ some weekend) class schedule to adhere to.
we welcome your prayers as we keep looking! our family is very ready to settle down after two months on the road... we do have a fun lead that we're pursuing tomorrow, & we're grateful that newly-weaned heron will be able to stay here with her grandparents so that josh & i can make a quick & efficient trip down to portland.
i'll catch up on the california posts soon!
p.s. josh's eye had an unfortunate encounter with heron's finger last night. he had to wear this patch all day (maybe tomorrow, too?). think anyone will want to rent a house to a pirate?

It is so good to hear from you guys again. How is the little baby in the belly? Kristie is dieing to know. Hope you find a place soon. Have fun on your first outing with just the two of you.

the patch is a nice look. hope his eye heals soon and that you all can get into your portland rhythm soon (home included). looking forward to that for you!
we had a very similar situation here in Maryland... stayed in Annapolis for about 2 weeks before we could find a place to live, after 2 places backed out on us! we finally found a place to live in a fancy college town :)
Well, Saturday WAS national Talk Like A Pirate day. Seriously, if Josh has to wear a patch he picked the best day of the year to do it. Hope his eye is all better now and that you found something great this weekend. Talk to you soon!

sorry to hear things aren't coming together as fast as you'd like...but it's not that always the way of things! can you send me your seattle address! i also would love to know how the baby in the belly is doing. when is your due date? we're having a festival here this weekend and it's been crazy planning for it. lots of changes in the future for us...we just don't know what they are yet. hope things fall into place for you soon and that you can feel at home in the meantime.
