we are back in portland now after an exciting, exhausting summertime tour. a bit of business + pleasure, tour + vacation. our travels took us from portland to charlotte, then atlanta, chattanooga, nashville, muncie, indy, bushnell (cornerstone festival), & chicago. all along the way we connected with friends*, old & new. i don't have pictures of even half the people or places we saw, but what i do have i've posted in the following entries to document the journey. (i posted instagrams along the way, but i've added my "real" photos to the mix since then)
the kids were perfect travelers, & never seemed to tire of the unending sea of new faces. nearly every place held kids their age to play with. heron, our eternal extrovert, was in heaven. even shepherd, a bit more introverted, seemed supernaturally charged by the daily unexpected of meeting strangers. if he ever tired of the crowds, he would steal away for some quiet time, then re-engage when he was ready.
and still, after such fun on the road, we are glad to be home. we've been here for a week now, trying to rest, even while piling headlong into the next project. yet, even in this busyness, we are happy to be just our family again, with our family routines, playtime, space, & moments of quiet.
