a random list of things he says that i want to remember:
* shepherd adds "-idoh" to the end of lots of words. the first was dump truck--"dumpidoh". dinosaur is "disidoh". christmas tree is "kissidoh," and "open presents" is "opidoh presidoh".
* shepherd really loves playing with cars, trucks, & little action figures. though most of the kids' toys are stored together, we now have a basket that simply holds all of sheppy's various vehicles & "guys". when sheppy got a little playmobile motorcycle + rider, josh named the guy "jimmy". now sheppy calls all the various little action figure guys "jimmy". upon opening a present on christmas eve ("opidoh presidoh!")--some playmobile firefighters, sheppy exclaimed, "fiya jimmies!" this is now one of our favorite expressions. it really has so many applications.
* though i'm not really a la leche leaguer, i've found myself still nursing our almost-two-year-old. even after a 5-day hiatus while we were in hawaii this summer, shepherd went right back to nursing. josh & i always said that if our kids were old enough to ask to nurse by name, it was time to wean. the other morning when shepherd woke up, his first words were, "boobies--yeehaw!" apparently he already has the mind of a thirteen-year-old boy.
* shepherd, of his own volition, has started calling me "mama bird" ("mama buhd" or sometimes "mama buhdee"). seriously, i didn't teach him this, but it sure makes me happy.
* shepherd's favorite game is "boppidoh". this is a game josh invented, actually called "bobbyland" that simply involves building forts out of blanket canopies (& hanging out in them) while singing the word, "boppyland" to the tune of the spiderman theme song... (or, in sheppy's words, "boppidoh, boppidoh..." it's the sweetest thing to hear him sing this in his raspy whisper voice beneath the blankets)
* shepherd is actually a very cleanly kid. he loves washing his hands, loves throwing diapers & trash away immediately, freaks out the moment he poops his diaper, & loves brushing his teeth. especially since christmas when he graduated from one of those silicone brushes on mama's finger to "a big-boy toothbrush". now every time i tell the kids it's time to brush their teeth, since "big-boy toothbrush" is a long phrase for our tiny talker, he jumps up & down exclaiming, simply, "boy! boy! boy!"
* shepherd's name for himself is "seppy". heron is "hennoh".
that's all i can recall for now... (this is my digital entry in his baby book; his actual baby book hasn't been written in for about 6 months--poor second child!)
