to cornerstone we go!

our friends around here make fun of us for our sunday evening ritual. every sunday, after a long day of church & hosting prayer, josh & i end the night with a beer or a glass of wine, planting ourselves on the couch for a mediocre 70s bible movie on tbn (or, on good nights it's something like "the hiding place" about corrie ten boom). last night, however, it was a real treat! long awaited from blockbuster, we watched:

jeremiah with patrick dempsey!

we liked it. doctor mcdreamy really brings the prophet jeremiah to life, & watching it makes me begin to understand the Lord's anger in a way that i've never been able to grasp before.

josh & i are headed to cornerstone this week, so the past weeks have been a time of preparation.

& on friday we headed south to bloomington to pick up 1000 more over oceans CDs, & enjoyed a little date in our favorite indiana town. bloomington's a charming place, with rolling hills, enchanted forests, darling restaurants. this time we picked a thai place for some pad thai & yummy mussaman curry, gewurztraminer, & lengthy silly musings about which creatures in the animal world are inherently good or evil.

for example:

good: mice / evil: rats

good: iguanas / evil: crocodiles

good: praying mantises / evil: cockroaches

good: orcas / evil: sharks

good: lions / evil: hyenas

... and it went on & on like this...

(we were surprised by our unanimous categorization of these animals, & imagined an epic battle like in narnia, with humans & beasts fighting side-by-side, charging the evil cackling hyenas with the noble killer whales whistling at our sides...). & if you don't believe me about the iguanas, with their strong & spiky tails, my friend loris had a pet iguana named thor, who was her constant companion. he would swim side-by-side across lake yarinacocha with her everyday. best friends.
